Bang in the middle of city centre.

This is the dump of last resort, the last stop of the garbage lorry before it goes to the Big Dumpsite outside the city. This spot is always filthy, as it is the 'official' last stop.

It is adjacent to an old crumbling colonial bungalow that has been unoccupied for years. Long-time residents can never recall if this place was ever occupied, or ever clean.

It seemed totally beyond hope. We made it our problem and fixed it. It’s been clean for 3 months.

It is a major victory. One of the city's famous leafy residential enclaves is around the corner. It is now a far more pleasant walk for its residents.
