We removed obstacles to walking by shifting a few stones. We ensured cars could not back up on the footpath and block walker access.

We cleaned the place up, painted the walls and maintained it. Added a few pots to beautify it.

Our logic is that Ugly Indian urinators prefer private dirty places where others have urinated before – they generally do not urinate on a clean footpath where people actually walk.

Our actions won us the trust of all the neighbours and convinced them not to dump garbage here.

The clincher was the idea to paint cute footsteps to create a play area for schoolgirls waiting for their cars and buses.
