  • Death Traps The Ugly Indian
Meet Aditya. He cares about this. He tells us it’s not that simple. Nothing on an Indian street is as simple as it looks at first sight!
He runs a shop right in front and tells us that he has tried several times to fix this. He is frustrated - someone always moves the slab.
This is a symptom of a classic Indian multi-agency problem. Several agencies control the footpath and what lies beneath.
Telephone companies, electricity companies, water companies, sewerage companies – look into any drain and you see a maze of wires.
Aditya is convinced that telecom company BSNL opens this for regular repairs, and leaves it open. He points to a wire jutting out and preventing proper placement of the slab. He is probably right. We decided to dig a little deeper.
